City Soul Reconnection is a project I've been working towards on and off for a while, coming up with sampled tracks in different cities during different times. I aimed to capture my mood in these songs throughout these times, while paying tribute to the musicians who've brought me joy and influenced me along the way, by reworking their sounds in my own style. So this includes all kinds of instrumental hiphop, chopping up a variety of different genres from jazz to soul, bossa nova to r&b and more, into some old school and some more modern and even electronic style tracks. This album is a result of me experimenting freely over the years, exploring ideas I'd had in my head (or had been wanting to finish) for a while... which I've finished over the course of these lockdown days and now can share with you.
